Raw Apple Cake


1 and 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 large eggs (beaten)
1 and 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cloves
3 cups of finely sliced apples


In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1 and 1/2 cups of sugar and 1/2 cup of butter. Add two large beaten eggs. Mix. In another mixing bowl blend together 1 and 1/2 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg and 1/2 teaspoon cloves. Thoroughly blend together both mixtures, and add three cups of finely sliced apples. Pour into a 9 x 13 greased and floured baking dish. Place in a preheated 350 degree oven and bake for about 30 minutes.

Hot Sauce for Apple Cake:
In a sauce pan mix 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup butter (real butter only), 1/2 cup cream and 1/2 teaspoon of maple or burnt sugar or vanilla flavoring. We use maple. Bring to a boil, remove from stove and serve hot over cake.
