Onion Rings


Onion Ring Batter:
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup corn starch
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 cup ice water
2 tablespoons salad oil


Blend together above seven ingredients, and mix well. Remove the skins from a large sweet onion and cut into 3/8 to 1/2 inch slices. Separate the sliced onion into rings. Fill Fry Boy or electric skillet approximately 1/2 full of cooking oil. Preheat oil to 375 degrees. When oil is ready dip a onion ring into the batter and allow to drip off before placing in hot oil. Cook one side until light tan, turn ring and cook until desired color is achieved. Remove and salt lightly. Eat while rings are hot.
