Date Pudding


1 lb. stoned dates (cut in pieces)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 and 1/2 cups boiling water
1 and 1/2 cups sugar

1 and 1/2 cup flour

2 tablespoons melted butter
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla

1 and 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup nuts (chopped)


Cut dates into pieces and sprinkle with baking soda. Add to the boiling water. Let stand for 5 minutes. Beat in sugar, melted butter and eggs. Add flour, chopped nuts and vanilla. Pour in a baking dish. Preheat oven to 325 degrees and bake for 45 minutes.
