Angel Biscuits


5 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup shortening
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pkg. yeast
1/2 cup warm water
l teaspoon baking powder
2 cups buttermilk


Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix flour, salt, sugar, baking soda and baking powder in a mixing bowl. Cut in shortening thoroughly. Add buttermilk and yeast. Cover bowl and refrigerate until ready for use. Dough will keep several weeks in refrigerator. When ready to bake, take out dough as needed. Roll 3/4 inches thick; cut and place on greased sheet. Let rise. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes or until brown.
