Coffee Cake
1 and 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
1 egg
Struesel Filling
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
2 tablespoons butter (melted)

| INSTRUCTIONS: |  |
| In a mixing bowl cream the shortening and sugar together, add 1 egg and mix. In another bowl, mix together 1 and 1/2 cups of flour, 2 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 3/4 teaspoon salt. Blend dry mixture and milk alternately with first mixture. Blend with mixer. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Pour 1/2 of the batter into a square baking pan that has been greased and floured. Put 1/2 of the struesel filling over the batter. Put the remaining batter on top of the struesel filling. Put the remaining struesel filling over that batter. Bake in oven for approximately 25 to 30 minutes. |  |
