Peanut Blossom

INGREDIENTS:
1-3/4 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 cup brown sugar (firmly packed) 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/2 cup shortening 1/2 cup peanut butter 1 egg 2 tablespoon milk 48 chocolate candy kisses
INSTRUCTIONS:
Combine all above ingredients except candy kisses in a large mixing bowl. With an electric mixer, mix on low speed until dough is formed. Shape dough into balls approximately the size of a rounded teaspoon. Roll balls in sugar and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and bake for 10 - 12 minutes. When cookies are removed from oven top each cookie immediately with a candy kiss, pressing down firmly so cookie will crack around candy.
